Lewis R. Baratz, Harpsichord & Recorder

Lewis R. Baratz studied the recorder with David Hart, Eva Legêne, and Rachel Begley, and harpsichord with David Fuller, Larry Palmer, and Gwendolyn Toth. A Fulbright Scholar and Belgian American Educational Foundation Fellow, he holds a Ph.D. in musicology from Case Western Reserve University. Lewis has performed on recorder, harpsichord, virginal, and English square piano with La Fiocco, Practitioners of Musick, Le Triomphe de l’amour, New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, and Virtuosi dei seicento. Lewis is also a certified project manager.

  Michelle Cosgrove is the founder of Ensemble Impromptu.  She is a freelance musician for both flute and piano, and has been appeared as guest artist in Period instruments ensembles and orchestras,  wedding and special engagement music with her groups Strings and Wind (guitar & flute) and the Cosgrove/Duffy Duo (piano & flute), and as accompanist and vocalist for church services and recitals.  She received a Bachelors of Music Education from The College of New Jersey, and a Masters in Flute Performance from West Chester University.  Michelle has a large teaching studio in Perkasie, PA, where she devotes most of her time to creating a musical community where her students collaborate in recitals and at various community events.  She is co-president of the the Philadelphia Music Teachers Association, on the Pedagogy committee for the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia, and Secretary for the Perkasie Towne Improvement Association.  You can read more about her at www.cosgrovestu

Paul Lingerman, Guitar

    Paul Lingerman has a bachelors degree in jazz guitar performance from the University Of The Arts.  He plays and teaches 8 instruments (mainly guitar) and has been performing in the Philadelphia area since the early 90s.  Everything from small cafe's and jazz clubs to opening for famous acts such as Twisted Sister, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michelle Branch, Fuel, Stanley Clarke and Judas Priest.   He is fluent in many styles of music from blues and bluegrass to rock, metal and classical.  Currently he is playing gigs with his jazz trio and teaching 6 days a week in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Stephen Duffy, Piano

    Stephen Duffy began his piano studies at the age of seven at Settlement Music School in Philadelphia.  He studied with Yolanda Kulik and distinguished faculty member Sandra Carlock.  He received his Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance at Oberlin College and Conservatory where he also studied organ with Garth Peacock and David Boe.   He later joined the faculty at the Community Conservatory where he taught for twenty years. Mr. Duffy is a member of the piano faculty at Settlement Music School, where he has taught for the past fifteen years and is the Music Director and organist at Holy Martyrs Roman Catholic Church in Oreland, Pa.   Stephen has worked extensively as an organist, accompanist, and soloist throughout the region.
